Hawaii Pacific University Presentation
On Tuesday, March 25, Ms. Sara Sato, VP of Enrollment Management at Hawaii Pacific University visited OCSI to share with students about the opportunities available to them at HPU. HPU is located in beautiful Honolulu, Hawaii, on the island of Oahu, and is a truly international campus.
The presentation was attended by all of the Juniors, as well as a few underclassmen. After the presentation there was a time of Q&A, and Ms. Sato said she was impressed by the politeness and thoughtful questions of our students.
We will continue to have rep visits throughout the year, as schedules allow. Students are highly encouraged to continue to attend college rep presentations, as they truly help students to understand what different colleges offer, and what factors they should consider as they build their own college lists.

Presentation by the Dean of Temple University Japan, Matthew Wilson
On Thursday, February 6th, OCSI students were fortunate to have a visit from the Dean of Temple University Japan (TUJ) and President of TUJ's Tokyo campus, Matthew Wilson. Dean Wilson was a very engaging and relatable speaker, and his message was applicable to all students, regardless of what path they choose to take after high school.
A few key points from Dean Wilson's message were:
It takes hard work to do extraordinary things.
You don't have to be the best at everything in order to be successful. God uses ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things.
Whatever your role is, be excellent at it.
The excellent path is rarely the easy path.
Find out what your dream is, then set your goals (both short and long term), then work hard to achieve them.
Follow-up questions to consider:
What are your dreams? What do you hope to be doing 5, 10, 20 years from now?
What are your short and long-term goals?
What steps can you take now to reach your goals in the future?
Have no idea what to do with your life? Have you scheduled a meeting with the college and career counselor yet?
The presentation was required for Juniors but open to all high school students.
After his presentation during homeroom, Dean Wilson was available in the cafeteria for students to talk with him and ask any questions they have about Temple University or even general life advice.
